Rowlinsons Solicitors are now able to offer completely free basic Wills to anyone over the age of 18 thanks to Cancer Research UK.
The firm have been members of the Cancer Research UK Free Wills scheme for three years and received a Gold Certificate in 2018 having raised over £2.3 million worth of gifts from people choosing to leave a legacy to the charity in their Will.
Donna Eland, Head of Private Client and Director at Rowlinsons commented:
“It’s great to be able to offer the option of the free wills scheme to a broader age range of clients. As a firm we handle property transactions for a large number of younger people and the majority do not have a Will in place. For unmarried couples the situation can be more complex and without having a Will prepared there is no guarantee your assets will be divided as you would have wished.”
The free Wills scheme covers the cost of a basic Will or Mirror Wills for anyone over 18. Whilst the majority of people who take up the offer do leave a legacy to the charity there is no obligation to do so.
Progress in research has seen survival rates for children’s cancer more than double since the 1960s and men with testicular cancer having close to a 100 per cent chance of beating the disease. And women diagnosed with breast cancer are now twice as likely to survive the disease as those diagnosed 40 years ago.
