Rowlinsons Solicitors has reached a landmark milestone in its partnership with Cancer Research UK, having helped more than 340 people put their affairs in order through the Cancer Research UK Will Writing Service, with those supporters collectively pledging over £5 million to fund pioneering cancer research.
The achievement was celebrated during a visit to the firm's Frodsham office by Helen Soutar, Legacy Partnership Manager at Cancer Research UK, who met with Donna Eland, Director and Solicitor and Head of the Private Client team, to reflect on the impact of the partnership and the vital difference legacy giving makes to the world's largest charitable funder of cancer research.
Cancer Research UK is on track to exceed its commitment to spend at least £1.5 billion on research over the five-year period from 2021/22 to 2025/26. Gifts in Wills are a crucial source of funding that help make this level of investment possible, supporting scientists and clinicians working to find new and better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.
Donna Eland, Director and Solicitor at Rowlinsons Solicitors, said:
"Being part of the Cancer Research UK Will Writing Service has been genuinely meaningful for our team. Every day we sit with individuals and families at important moments in their lives, helping them think about the future and the people and causes that matter most to them. Knowing that over 340 of our clients have chosen to leave a gift to Cancer Research UK and that together those gifts represent more than £5 million towards life-saving research is something we are immensely proud of. We look forward to continuing to grow this partnership and to helping even more people leave a lasting legacy."
Helen Soutar, Legacy Partnership Manager at Cancer Research UK, said:
"Rowlinsons Solicitors is a wonderful example of what a committed and compassionate partnership looks like in practice. The team brings real care and professionalism to every conversation, and that makes all the difference when someone is thinking about including a gift in their Will. The £5 million pledged through Rowlinsons will help fund the kind of world-leading research that changes and saves lives. We are enormously grateful to Donna and the whole team, and to every individual who has chosen to be part of this incredible collective effort."
Gifts in Wills fund approximately a third of Cancer Research UK's life-saving work. Even a small gift can contribute to discoveries that benefit millions of people — not just in the UK, but around the world.
