When planning for your future it can be sensible to appoint someone to make key decisions if you are unable to.
A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) does just this. It is a legal document which allows someone to act on your behalf, giving them authority to make decisions about your welfare, property and money if you are unable to do so. This can bring peace of mind to not only you but also make life a lot easier for your family and loved ones.
At Rowlinsons we have a dedicated team with a wealth of experience in dealing with powers of attorney, allowing you to secure your future well-being now.
Please note that prior to 1st October 2007 it was possible to appoint someone to manage your affairs using an Enduring Power of Attorney (EPA). Whilst EPA's remain valid if you want to make changes to it, then you would need to cancel it and make an LPA instead. In addition if you made an EPA and subsequently lose mental capacity to manage your affairs then your attorneys would need to make an application to the Court of Protection to register the EPA before they can assume responsibility for managing your affairs.
We have considerable experience in dealing with Powers of Attorney so if you do require any assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.
