Rowlinsons Solicitors has seen a dramatic increase in the number of new residential property instructions received over the last four weeks since lockdown restrictions were eased.
When comparing April to the latest 4-week period, the firm experienced an eightfold increase in the number of new business enquiries and the week commencing 5th June matched pre-lockdown figures.
Tom Parkinson, Head of Property at Rowlinsons commented:
“It’s fair to say that new instructions almost ground to a halt during March and April, though our team were still working hard to progress existing matters to the point of exchange and completion where possible.
Throughout lockdown home movers had been asked to delay their plans, with government estimates suggesting around half a million moves had been affected. The reopening of estate agents, the return to work for surveyors and the relaxation in lockdown requirements had an immediate effect on new business for our property team.
We are cautiously optimistic as to how the property market will continue to respond for the remainder of 2020. Clients are understandably still wary of coming to the office, but conveyancing like many services now can be provided without the need to meet at all. Our mobile app has certainly proven to be extremely popular as documents can be sent, received and signed without any paperwork changing hands.”
Rowlinsons Solicitors are within the top 150 conveyancing firms across England and Wales by volume of purchase transactions completed.
